Strategies, Audits and Assurance

A sustainability strategy enables an organisation to integrate environmental, social and economic considerations in its governance framework and business strategy in order to create sustainable value for all its stakeholders.

An audit is a systematic, independent, and documented process of examining and evaluating records, operations, processes, or systems to determine whether they comply with established standards, laws, policies, or objectives – it’s a check or review to confirm that things are being done correctly, transparently, and according to requirements. An Environmental or Sustainability Audit reviews how well an organisation is managing its environmental and social responsibilities, whilst a Compliance Audit is conducted to check if an organisation is following laws, regulations, licenses or internal policies.

Assurance is the process of providing confidence or certainty that information, processes, or systems are reliable, accurate, and meet established criteria – assurance  is about trust — it’s what makes people believe that what an organisation reports or does is true and dependable. Sustainability assurance reviews information such as sustainability reports, environmental performance, or social responsibility claims to confirm if they are credible.
